Accessibility
If you use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification, or captions, this site should still work for you. Where it does not, we want to know.

Our commitment
CityPAC works to make citypac.org, our email, and our events usable by people with disabilities. We build for it up front rather than patching it later.
Conformance target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines are the international standard for making web content accessible, and they are the benchmark used under the Americans with Disabilities Act. We consider this site partially conformant: most of the site meets the standard, and we are actively working on the areas that do not yet.
What we have built in
- Keyboard access. Navigation, menus, forms, buttons, and donation tiers can all be reached and operated with a keyboard alone.
- Visible focus. A high-contrast focus outline follows you as you tab, so you always know where you are on the page.
- Skip to content. A “Skip to content” link is the first thing keyboard and screen reader users reach on every page.
- Semantic structure. Pages use real headings, landmarks, lists, and labeled form fields so screen readers can navigate them meaningfully.
- Text alternatives. Photographs and the CityPAC logo carry descriptive alt text; decorative icons are hidden from assistive technology so they do not add noise.
- Color contrast. Body text, headings, and buttons are chosen to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios, and color is never the only way we convey meaning.
- Responsive, zoomable layout. The site reflows down to small screens and supports browser zoom to 200% without loss of content or function.
- Readable type. Text is set in a legible sans-serif at comfortable sizes and line heights, and scales with your browser’s font settings.
Known limitations
As of the date above, we are still working on the following:
- Payment processing and form handling run on third-party services outside our direct control. We pick vendors with accessibility in mind and report problems to them when we find them.
- Some older photographs sourced from archives and government collections have shorter alt text than we would like. We are improving these descriptions on an ongoing basis.
- PDFs and documents we occasionally publish may not be fully tagged for screen readers. If you need one in an accessible format, ask and we will provide it.
Accessibility at our events
We ask venues hosting CityPAC events to be wheelchair accessible. Tell us when you register, or email us, if you need accessible seating, a sign language interpreter, live captioning, large-print materials, a dietary accommodation, or anything else. Seven days notice is easiest to work with, but ask whenever you can.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this site or our programming is hard for you to use, tell us. Reports from visitors are how we find most of these problems.
- Email: contact@citypac.org, with “Accessibility” in the subject line.
- Contact form: use our contact page.
Please tell us the page address, what you were trying to do, and what happened, along with the browser and assistive technology you were using if you know them. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two business days and to resolve them as quickly as we can. If a fix will take time, we will tell you what we are doing and offer the information or service another way in the meantime.
How we assess this site
We evaluate accessibility through a combination of automated testing, manual keyboard-only walkthroughs, and screen reader spot checks. We review the site when we make significant changes and revisit this statement at least annually.
Formal complaints
If you report a barrier and are not satisfied with our response, email contact@citypac.org and ask that it go to our leadership. They will review it directly.
